Treeline Biosciences was founded by an experienced team of biopharmaceutical scientists and executives committed to developing new medicines against compelling molecular targets in oncology that have proven difficult to drug. We are pursuing a uniquely integrated approach that applies emerging scientific tools and a commitment to building our protein structure, biophysics, and computational design infrastructure. As a member of the Protein Sciences team, you will play an integral role supporting early-stage discovery programs by collaborating closely with a cross-functional team of scientists to impact small molecule drug discovery. Specifically, you will impact the target enabling strategy and design and implement gene-to-protein workflows to deliver high-quality protein for use in SAR enabling assays and structural biology efforts.
Responsibilities
- Establish and implement strategies for enabling multiple protein targets.
- Design, express, and purify protein targets to support structural biology and small molecule drug discovery efforts.
- Perform functional and biophysical characterization of proteins using novel and established technical methods.
- Analyze, interpret, and document data using an ELN and application specific software tools.
- Explore and evaluate new technologies related to Protein Science.
- Manage and mentor junior Protein Science Team members.
- Collaborate across lead discovery, medicine design, and medicinal chemistry teams to efficiently drive projects forward.
Basic Qualifications
- Candidates must have a minimum of a BS/MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline with 10+ years of relevant industry experience. Relevant industry experience is a requirement for this role.
- Strong candidates will have a track record working with challenging protein targets and/or multi-protein complexes to enable hit finding assay development.
- Proven hands-on experience with multiple expression platforms (e.g., bacteria, insect cell, mammalian cell).
- Proficiency with AKTA instrumentation and a broad range of standard and unique purification and protein QC techniques.
- Protein characterization techniques, such as SDS-PAGE, Western Blot and analytical SEC are required.
- Candidates must possess excellent collaborative skills, demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills, and work effectively under deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to report and present data to colleagues and senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in small molecule drug discovery in a biotech or pharma setting.
- Previous experience with biophysical characterization techniques and biochemical assay development is a plus.
This position is classified as exempt. The anticipated annual base salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego is $161,500 to $178,500. The final base salary offered to the successful candidate will be dependent upon several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the job, education, and other factors.
